The Designated Security Duties (DSD) Training Course is designed for seafarers who are assigned shipboard security responsibilities under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
With maritime security threats ranging from piracy and armed robbery to terrorism and cyberattacks, the ability to respond effectively is critical. This course provides a comprehensive yet practical approach, turning complex regulations into actionable security procedures you can apply onboard.
Course Structure:
The training is delivered across four self-paced modules, each blending reading materials, visual aids, and engaging activities to reinforce your learning:
- Maritime Security Threats – Identify current and emerging threats, and understand the consequences of breaches.
- Ship Security Plan (SSP) & Security Levels – Learn the importance of the Ship Security Assessment (SSA) and measures for ISPS Levels 1, 2, and 3.
- Access Control & Physical Security – Master practical shipboard security measures, including restricted areas and access control.
- Emergency Procedures & Reporting – Gain skills in the Ship Security Alert System (SSAS), emergency reporting, and security drills.
